NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader against Manhattanville College on Wednesday. The Falcons lost the first game, 8-0 in five innings, followed by a five-inning 18-6 loss in game two.
Paige Scheid (Cedar Grove, N.J.) had both hits in game one for the Falcons and had a hit in game two. Colleen Edwards (Clinton, Conn.) was 3-for-3 with a run in game two, while Hailey Laforte (Branford, Conn.) was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Valiants scored one run in each of the first two innings to take an early 2-0 lead. The Falcons had opportunities to score in the first and third innings as Scheid notched hits in both of those innings, but the Falcons left two runners on base in the first and the third.
- Manhattanville took control in the top of the fourth cas Samantha Walsh hit an RBI single and Amaya Esparza had an RBI double. The Valiants would score two more in the fifth on a two-run single by Olivia Fasce and tack one more run in the top of the sixth.
- Manhattanville starting pitcher Charli Shinstine struck out nine batters in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a high-scoring first inning, Manhattanville scored four in the top of the inning that included a two-run homer from Sarah Harker and a two-run triple by Aleza Lazur.
- In the bottom of the first, however, the Falcons responded with five runs of their own to take a 5-4 lead. Scheid singled, and Edwards singled followed by a walk to Erin Molkenthin (East Haddam, Conn.) to load the bases. A wild pitch would score Scheid followed by an RBI infield single by Laforte to make it a 4-2 game. With two outs, Alexis Enjem (Derby, Conn.) hit a two-run single to center to tie the game up and Browne gave the Falcons their lone lead with an RBI single.
- Manhattanville regained the lead, going up 7-5 in the top of the seventh on a two-run double by Harker and an RBI single by Esparza.
- The Valiants scored two more in the third and ran away with the game in the top of the fourth as the team batted around in the order and scored nine runs. Included in the scoring was Esparaza and Coleman each registering RBI doubles and a two-run single by Walsh.
