Women's Basketball Falls to St. Joe's (L.I.) 75-53

Lindsay Karle (Wallingford, Conn.) tallied 17 points as the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team dropped a 75-53 decision to Saint Joseph's College of Long Island on Thursday night in non-conference action.

With the loss, the Falcons drop to 7-3 on the year as it was their second loss in three contests. The win improves the Golden Eagles' record to 6-5 overall.

Karle's double-digit effort marked her fourth-consecutive game with 10 or more points.

Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) finished the night with 12 points and six rebounds as she shot 5-of-13 from the floor. It was Carrero's seventh-straight game in double figures.

Senior Bianca Brown (West Haven, Conn.) added 12 points and nine rebounds in 32 minutes, while she added three blocks. All of her points came in the first half of play.

Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.) contributed with six points and four rebounds as the Falcons shot 33.9-percent from the field. In the second half, the Golden Eagles held the Falcons to just eight field goals in 31 attempts.

During the second half of play, there were no field goals scored in the final 2:55 of the contest as the only points scored during the game's final three minutes were two free throws by Acerra at the 1:30 mark. Saint Joseph's largest lead of the game came as the Golden Eagles took a 26-point advantage with 3:28 left in regulation.

The Falcons were out-rebounded 48-40 on the night, while Saint Joseph's scored 25 points off 18 Albertus turnovers. The Golden Eagles also hit eight 3-pointers in 20 attempts.

Nicole Redding was 10-of-16 from the field as she scored 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Amanda Bender added 20 points as she hit 4-of-6 from behind the arc.

Albertus will host Saint Joseph College of West Hartford, Conn. on Tuesday, Jan. 10 in the CMM Athletic Center. That Great Northeast Athletic Conference match-up is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
