Women’s Basketball Falls to Emerson 85-75 in Boston

Despite a career-high 36 points from senior Bianca Brown (West Haven, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team dropped an 85-75 decision to Emerson on Saturday afternoon in Boston, Mass.

With the Great Northeast Athletic Conference loss, the Falcons fall to 8-5 on the year and 1-2 in the league standings. Emerson improves to 5-10 on the year and 2-1 in the conference with the win.

Brown's 36-point effort marked her first game with 30 or more points, while it was her ninth game in double figures on the season. Brown shot 15-of-27 from the floor in 34 minutes of work. She also grabbed eight rebounds.

Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) shot 9-of-19 from the field for 21 points, while she added eight assists and seven rebounds.

The Falcons shot 30-of-72 from the floor for 41.7-precent, while they hit 13 of 18 attempts from the free-throw line.

Emerson had six players score in double-figures on the afternoon as Olivia DiNucci scored 19 points in 33 minutes. The Lions shot 24-of-54 from the floor for 44.4-percent.

Albertus scored 26 points off 21 Emerson turnovers and the Lions made 29 of their 42 attempts from the charity stripe.

The Falcons return to action on Monday, Jan. 16 for a conference match-up against Johnson & Wales (R.I.). Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in New Haven, Conn.
