Suffolk Slips Past Falcons 70-63

Four members of the Suffolk women's basketball team scored in double figures as the Rams slipped by the Albertus Magnus Falcons 70-63 on Thursday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action.

Albertus was led by three double-figure scorers as Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) led the charge with 18 points. Lindsey Karle (Wallingford, Conn.) and Bianca Brown (West Haven, Conn.) added 17 and 15 points, respectively.

For the Rams, it was their fifth-consecutive win, while they improve to 13-5 on the year and 6-1 in the GNAC. Tonight's loss moves the Falcons overall record to 10-8, while they go to 3-4 in league play.

The Falcons drop to 9-14 all-time against Suffolk dating back to the 1993-94 season with tonight's loss.

The Falcons held the biggest lead of the night as they jumped out to an 11-point advantage at 27-16 thirteen minutes into the contest. Suffolk cut the Falcons' lead to four as Albertus went into intermission up 30-26.

The Rams tied the game with 13 minutes on the clock in the second half then took control of the game by forcing Falcon turnovers and hitting 20 of their 21 free-throw attempts in the frame. On the night, Suffolk scored 29 points off 23 Falcon turnovers.

The Falcons will head to Pine Manor on Saturday, Jan. 28 to take on the Gators for the second time this season after defeating Pine Manor 86-66 on Nov. 20. Albertus is 11-7 all-time against Pine Manor, dating back to the 1994-95 season, and is 4-4 against the Gators when playing on the road.
