Lindsay Karle (Wallingford, Conn.) tallied 22 points to lead the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team to a 68-49 win over Simmons in GNAC action on Wednesday night.

With the victory, the Falcons earned their 12th win of the year to mark the second time in the last three seasons that the program has won 12 or more games. Last year, the Falcons finished the 22-game regular season with an 8-14 overall record, while in 2009-10, Albertus tallied a 13-14 showing.

Karle led the way for Albertus in tonight's league victory as she shot 9-of-17 from the floor, including 2-of-6 clip from behind the arc. Her nine made field-goals tied her career high in that category.

The Falcons (12-8, 5-4 GNAC) shot 50.0-percent from the field in the league victory, while holding Simmons to a 21.9-percentage in the first half as the Sharks scored just 15 points in the first 20 minutes of play. With tonight's loss, the Sharks have now lost five straight to drop to 3-16 overall and 1-8 in league play.

Albertus opened the game with a 14-7 run before extending their lead to as much as 21 with 2:20 left in the first half. The Sharks were held scoreless for the first minutes of tonight's game as they struggled from the floor, hitting just 23 of their 69 attempts on the night.

Karle, who scored just six first-half points, shot 7-of-9 from the floor in the second frame as the Falcons' shot 52.2-percent.

Senior Bianca Brown (West Haven, Conn.) scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the victory as she recorded her third double-double of the season. For the sixth-straight game, Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) registered double figures as the sophomore contributed with 13 points.

Annie Sutila (Bridgeport, Conn.) chipped in with nine points as she shot 3-of-4 from three-point land.  Sarah Boudreau (Pascoag, R.I.) added eight points and eight rebounds for the Falcons as Albertus out-rebounded Simmons 41-33. Simmons also struggled from behind the arc as the Sharks made just one of their 20 attempts.

Albertus is now 15-5 all-time against the Sharks.

The Falcons return home after three games on the road as they will host Emmanuel on Saturday, Feb. 4 in a 1:00 p.m. GNAC match-up. Emmanuel is 14-6 overall on the year, while the Saints stand at a perfect 8-0 in GNAC play.
