Lindsay Karle (Wallingford, Conn.) scored 20 points to lead the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team to a 71-61 Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory over Lasell on Saturday afternoon. Karle played 37 minutes for the Falcons, while shooting 7-of-19 from the floor.

With today's win, the Falcons achieve a winning regular-season as their record improves to 13-10 with two regular-season games left on the schedule. The winning regular season is the first for the Falcons since the program finished 16-11 at the end of the 2003-04 season. Under first-year head coach Steve Schuler the Falcons have clinched a winning record in the regular season for the first time in eight years.

The Falcons' GNAC record evens out to 6-6 with today's league victory.

The first half of today's contest was a story of runs as the Falcons opened the game with a 4-0 run before Lasell put together a 7-0 run to take a three-point lead. After taking a 23-14 advantage with less than 10 minutes to play in the first half, the Lasers went on a 9-0 run to tie the contest at 23. Albertus finished out the frame with a 5-2 run to take a 28-25 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Falcons shot a stellar 57.7-percent from the floor to outscore the Lasers 43-36 in the frame. The Falcons finished the day with a 45.6-percent showing from the floor as they shot 17-of-23 from the charity stripe.

Today's contest consisted of three ties and four lead changes, while the Falcons' largest lead of 13 points came in the second half with 2:30 left on the clock.

Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) added 17 points for the Falcons, while Bianca Brown (West Haven, Conn.) contributed with 13 points and nine rebounds, including eight off the defensive glass.

With today's win, the Falcons are now 4-2 all-time against the Lasers and have won the last three meetings between the two programs.

Lasell (3-19, 3-9 GNAC) was led by Danielle Auntencio with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Alexis Chappell also registered a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Despite the conference loss, the Lasers out-rebounded Albertus 49-35 on the afternoon. The Lasers shot 34.3-percent from the floor in today's game and struggled from behind the arc, making just three of their 11 attempts.

Annie Raucci (Milford, Conn.) added seven points and six rebounds for the Falcons, while Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.) tallied seven points and seven rebounds in the win.

The Falcons will play in their final non-conference game of the regular season on Tuesday night at the College of New Rochelle. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Following the Tuesday match-up, the Falcons will host Saint Joseph's College on Maine on Saturday, Feb. 18. That contest will serve as the Falcons' Play 4Kay game as Albertus encourages its fans to wear pink to promote breast cancer awareness. The GNAC match-up begins at 1:00 p.m.
