The Albertus Magnus women's basketball team dropped an 89-51 decision to Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Tuesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference quarterfinal action. Lindsay Karle (Wallingford, Conn.) led the way for the Falcons as she finished with 16 points.

Albertus finishes its season with a 14-12 overall record with tonight's outcome. Despite the loss, the Falcons produced their most successful season in the last eight years, behind head coach Steve Schuler, as their 14 regular-season wins are the most for the program since the 2003-04 season, while they opened up the 2011-12 season with a 4-0 record – the best in program history.

Saint Joseph's improves to 19-7 on the year with the victory and will host semifinal action on Thursday night.

Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) added 14 points for the Falcons in tonight's game, while Bianca Brown (West Haven, Conn.) tallied eight points and four rebounds.

Saint Joseph's opened the contest with a 10-0 run before Albertus got on the scoreboard on a Bianca Brown lay-up at the16:12 mark of the first half. The Monks extended their lead to 24-8 just over 12 minutes into the contest.

At the break, the Falcons trailed 40-17 as they shot just 26.9-percent from the floor in the opening frame. Carrero shot 5-of-7 from the field to lead the Falcons with 12 first-half points.

Megan McDevitt, who led the Monks to their overtime victory on Saturday in New Haven, led both teams at the break with 13 points as she shot 3-of-6 from behind the arc.

McDevitt finished the night with 17 points, while Ashley Geel recorded 22 points and seven rebounds.

Albertus shot 32.1-percent from the floor, including a 3-of-13 clip from behind the arc. The Monks shot 50-percent and hit nine 3-pointers.

The Falcons are now 0-7 all-time against the Monks dating back to their first meeting during the 1998-99 season, while tonight's contest marked the first loss to the Monks in GNAC postseason play.
