Four Falcons registered double-figures as the fifth-seeded Albertus Magnus women's basketball team upset fourth-seeded Rivier University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament play on Tuesday night. With the win, the Falcons will now travel to top-seeded Emmanuel College on Thursday night.

Senior Kendrea Walker (New Haven, Conn.), who came off a career-high 38-point effort on Saturday, continued to dominate in the paint as she registered a game-high 28 points and 14 rebounds. Walker shot 9-of-18 from the floor and 10-of-10 from the free-throw line in the Falcons' first GNAC Tournament victory since the 2009-10 season. During that season, Walker led the Falcons as they defeated Suffolk by one point at 82-81 on Feb. 23, 2010.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 20-6 on the year for just the program's second-ever 20-win season. The last time the Falcons registered 20 wins was in 1994-95 when Albertus finished the year 24-5.

Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) added 14 points for the Falcons in 40 minutes of work, while Annie Raucci (Milford, Conn.) and Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.) chipped in with 10 and 12 points, respectively. Acerra added 10 rebounds, a career-high, while it was also her first career double-double.

River cut the Albertus lead down to four with less than 10 minutes to go before a 14-2 run by the Falcons secured the victory. Walker scored all 14 points for the Falcons during that run.

The Falcons shot 38.8% from the floor on the night and held its largest lead of the contest at 15 points with 5:02 left in regulation.

Deanna Purcell paced the Raiders' offense with 26 points, while the Raiders move to 15-10 on the year.

Albertus will travel to Boston on Thursday to take on Emmanuel College in a 7:00 p.m. contest. Emmanuel has won 11 GNAC Tournament titles in the last 12 years, including the last six. Admission for this contest is $4 for adults and $2 for children. Albertus Magnus students or staff with a valid ID will be admitted free of charge.
