Bolden Leads Falcons in 67-52 at USJ

Freshman Olivia Bolden (South Windsor, Conn.) scored 22 of her 26 points in the second half of tonight's contest as the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team defeated the University of Saint Joseph 67-52 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Tuesday.

Bolden hit nine of her 13 shot attempts in the second half to register 22 of the Falcons' 37 second-half points.  The freshman finished the night 11-of-21 from the floor as she was the only Falcon in double figures.

With the win, Albertus improves to 11-11 on the year and 4-5 in the league standings.  The loss drops the Blue Jays to 8-14 overall and 3-5 in GNAC play.

The Falcons' out-rebounded the Blue Jays 59-52 thanks to 18 boards from junior Chelsea Sherrod (Bridgeport, Conn.).  Sherrod pulled down 16 on the defensive end, while fellow junior Kelsey Pendagast (Shelton, Conn.) grabbed 14 rebounds to go along with eight points.

Freshman Alexa Riley (Cromwell, Conn.) added eight points on 3-of-6 shooting in 15 minutes of play.

Albertus finished the night shooting 32.4% from the field, led by a 40% showing in the second half.

At the break, Albertus held a one-point advantage with a 30-29 lead.

Heather Framski led the Blue Jays with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while they shot 19-of-76 from the floor, including a 5-of-19 clip from behind the arc.

The Falcons' largest lead of the night came in the second half with 13:50 left on the clock as Albertus led by 18 points.  Saint Joseph shot just 21.4% in the second half while shooting 9-of-42 from the field.

Albertus will head to Providence on Saturday when the Falcons take on Johnson & Wales (R.I.) in GNAC action.
