Women's Basketball Weekly Preview: Purchase

Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team went 2-2 during a busy opening week of the season. The Falcons scored victories against Mitchell and Medgar Evers to start the year before falling in the Bay State to both No. 2 Amherst and Farmingdale State over the weekend. Olivia Bolden led the way for the Falcons last week, recording a pair of double-doubles thanks to averaging over 14 points and 11 rebounds per tilt. Senior guard Liz Falcigno averaged 13 points and hit 50 percent of her shots from three-point range. Sophomore guard Deja Ward also played well for the Falcons, scoring over 12 points a game and dishing out five assists.

This Week: Prior to the Thanksgiving break, Albertus Magnus will hit the road to square off with regional rival Purchase State on Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm. The Falcons have won both meetings all-time against the Panthers, topping Purchase State each of the last two winters.

Last Season Versus Purchase: Albertus Magnus netted an 86-50 win against the Panthers at home thanks to a trio of players scoring in double figures. Falcigno led the way for the Falcons with 15 points, four rebounds and two steals, while Ward added 14 points off the bench to go along with a pair of assists and four boards. After the opening minutes, Albertus Magnus never trailed. The Falcons did a good job of distributing the ball, picking up 16 assists on 27 made field goals.

Notes
- Junior forward Olivia Bolden averaged over 14 points and 11 rebounds to go along with a pair of double-doubles during the first week of the season. She scored in double figures in three of the team's four contests, highlighted by a 19-point performance against Farmingdale State. Bolden hit just under 49 percent of her shots from the field during the week. In a 81-40 win against Mitchell, she had 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Bolden ended the week with 19 points, 17 rebounds and two blocks versus Farmingdale State.
- Falcigno is scoring 13 a game thanks to strong shooting. She has hit 9-of-18 shots from three-point range and connected on 88 percent (15-of-17) of her free throws. Ward is enjoying success at the point as a starter this season, dishing out over five assists per game. Three times this year, Ward has racked up six or more assists in a game.
- As a team, Albertus Magnus is hitting just over 36 percent of its shots. AMC is shooting 24 percent from beyond the arc and just 61 percent from the charity stripe. The Falcons have been outrebounded by an average of five boards per game.
