Last Week: Prior to the Thanksgiving break, the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team scored a 78-51 road non-conference victory against Purchase College. The Falcons snapped a two-game losing streak en route to their third win of 20+ points this season.
This Week: Albertus Magnus has a busy week as the Falcons host in-state foes Western Connecticut and St. Joseph (Conn.) before hitting the road to take on Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Saturday. AMC opens Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play this week with tilts against the Bluejays and the Monks.

Series History: The showdown between the Colonials and the Falcons on Tuesday will mark the first meeting between the two schools since 2005. Western Connecticut has won all five of the games between the two squads with the first meeting coming in the mid-90s.

Last Year Against the Bluejays: Albertus Magnus scored a 93-50 victory against St. Joseph (Conn.) last season in the Elm City. Liz Falcigno led the offensive charge for the Falcons with a game-high 18 points thanks to hitting three shots from three-point range and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line. Olivia Bolden also had a strong game for AMC, pouring in 17 points and pulling down eight rebounds.

Last Season Versus the Monks: Saint Joseph's (Maine) defeated Albertus Magnus, 83-71, at home midway through the year. The Falcons shot just over 26 percent from three-point range in the loss. Bolden and Falcigno both had strong showings in a losing effort for AMC. Falicgno had 17 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Bolden had a double-double thanks to an 18-point, 10-rebound performance.
Notes
- Sophomore Jill Johnson had a career night against Purchase last week. The 5-6 point guard poured in a career-best 21 points thank to hitting 7-of-14 shots from the field. Johnson converted on 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. She also chipped in three rebounds, three assists and a career-best five steals.
- Bolden and Falcigno each recorded their second straight double-doubles in the 27-point win against the Panthers. Falcigno had 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting and pulled down 11 rebounds, while Bolden poured in 13 points and grabbed a game-high 16 boards. Bolden has registered three double-doubles already this season.
- As a team, is hitting over 36 percent of its shots from the field. Falcigno is 10-of-23 on shots from three-point range this season, every other Falcon is a combined 6-of-50. Sophomore guard Deja Ward is averaging a team-best 4.6 assists per contest. Bolden and Falcigno are accounting for over 21 rebounds per game thus far. The two players are also averaging for over 40 percent of the team's points.
- Beginning this season, GNAC women's basketball will shift to divisional play for all conference contests. Divisional opponents will play each team within their division twice – one home contest and one away tilt – while playing each team in the opposite division once for a total of 16 league games. The South Division will be made up by Albertus Magnus, Emmanuel, Johnson & Wales, Mount Ida, the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) and Suffolk University. Based on overall conference record, the top four seeds from each division will advance to the GNAC Tournament, as the size of the field (8) will not change despite the new playoff format.
