Winthrop, Mass. – Albertus Magnus College senior women's basketball player Liz Falcigno (Wallingford, Conn.) was tabbed as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon as announced by the league office.

Falcigno becomes the first Falcon to earn weekly recognition from the league this season. It also marked the first time in her career that she has received a weekly award from the conference.

The sharp-shooting guard scored a season-best 29 points in a 75-59 non-conference home victory against Farmingdale State to close out the 2016 calendar year. Falcigno hit 10-of-18 shots from the field, highlighted by knocking down four shots from three-point range and five from the charity stripe. She also pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds to go along with four assists and three steals. The double-double was her second in a row and fifth of the season.

She currently ranks first in the league in free-throw shooting percentage (88.6 %), third in rebounding (10.9 per game), second in three-point percentage (42.6 %), 10th in scoring (13.9 per game), 10th in field goal percentage (44.4 %) and is tied for tops in the GNAC with over three steals per contest.

The women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday, January 5, with a road non-conference clash against Drew University that is slated to begin at 7:00 pm. The Falcons enter in the game in search of their first win versus the Rangers, as Drew has won all three meetings between the two schools.
