Bolden and Falcigno Receive All-Conference Distinction

Winthrop, Mass. – Albertus Magnus College junior forward Olivia Bolden (South Windsor, Conn.) and senior guard Liz Falcigno (Wallingford, Conn.) both earned All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) honors as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Bolden was named to the first team, while Falcigno landed on the second team.

The GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team was also announced on Monday afternoon and senior forward Megan Thornton (Worcester, Mass.) represented the Falcons on the squad.

Bolden earned end of the league-wide recognition for the second season after being tabbed as the GNAC Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-GNAC in 2015-16. She finished the year leading the league in both scoring (20.4 point per game) and rebounding (12.6 boards per tilt). Bolden registered a team-high 20 double-doubles as well as ranked fourth in the league shooting 49.9 percent from the field. She scored 20 or more points 14 times highlighted by pouring in a season-high 31 against Pine Manor on December 6.

In her last year on campus, Falcigno ranked third in the league in steals, collecting 64 on the season. She ended the year third in the GNAC in free-throw shooting (78.2%) and seventh in rebounds per game with 8.3. This year, she led the team averaging 2.6 steals per game and finished second on the team in assists per game with 2.0. This year, she scored 344 points and connected on 43 shots from beyond the arc.

In her final season as a Falcon, Thornton finished the year with 18 rebounds, three assists, four steals and six blocks. Over her four-year tenure, she averaged 1.2 points and 1.7 rebounds per game as well as collected 28 blocks, 13 assists and 10 steals.

The women's basketball team ended the 2016-17 season with a 14-12 overall record and advanced to the GNAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed thanks to a 9-7 mark in league play. Albertus saw its season come to an end with a setback at Saint Joseph's of Maine in the GNAC Quarterfinals.
