New Haven, Conn. – Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse Head Coach Joe Caruso (3rd season) has announced his team's schedule for the upcoming spring season. In total, the Falcons take to the field 15 times, highlighted by nine Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) games and seven contests in front of their home crowd at Celentano Field.
Heading into the third season in program history, Albertus Magnus is coming off a 1-14 campaign in which the Falcons scored a 22-8 home victory against Bay Path. In the triumph, the 22 goals marked a new program record and their second straight win against the Wildcats. This season, the squad will look to a strong core of returners and some new talent to move up in the GNAC standings.
"I'm looking forward to the 2016 season," Caruso said. "With the freshman class and first-year transfers that we've added to the roster, combined with the experienced returning student-athletes we feel confident about having a great season with such a young team."
Albertus Magnus opens the year with three straight non-conference home games against Framingham State (3/8), Daniel Webster (3/22) and Mitchell (3/24). The Falcons close out the first month of the regular season with a pair of road tilts versus Emmanuel (3/26) and Merchant Marine (3/30).
Three of the team's first four game in April come at home with Saint Joseph's (Me.) (4/2), Johnson & Wales (4/5) and St. Joseph (Conn.) (4/12) heading to the Elm City. In between the trio of home tilts, the squad travels to Rivier (4/10) for a GNAC clash. Following the home game against the Blue Jays in mid-April, the Falcons hit the road for a season-long five-game road trip. During the 18-day stretch outside of New Haven, AMC faces Bay Path (4/14), Norwich (4/16), Simmons (4/23), Lasell (4/26) and Johnson State (4/28). The team ends the regular season with a home league contest against Mount Ida (4/30).
