Women's Lacrosse Weekly Preview: Emmanuel & Saint Joseph's (Maine)

Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team went 0-2 last week, falling at home in non-conference action to Daniel Webster and Mitchell. Albertus Magnus enters the week with an 0-3 record. Against the Eagles, senior midfielder Miranda Jassil paced the Albertus Magnus attack with three goals, while freshman Aida Sarr and junior Carla Tapia both chipped in one marker apiece for the Falcons. Versus the Mariners, Sarr scored a career-high four goals and added an assist in a losing effort for the Falcons. On the week, freshman goalkeeper Lexie Fenn made 23 saves.

This Week: The Falcons travel to play at Emmanuel in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener on Tuesday before hosting Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Saturday in league action.

Last Year Versus the Saints: Emmanuel scored a 20-4 victory at home versus Albertus Magnus. In the tilt, Kristen Tuleja led the Saints with five goals and two assists as well as 10 shots. Madison Altwies added four goals, while Emily Baker tallied three goals to go along with an assist. Four different Falcons found the back of the net in a losing effort.

Scouting Emmanuel: The Saints enter the week in the midst of two-game skid having dropped contests to SUNY Potsdam in Florida and Emerson at home. The squad averages over 11 goals per game and 27 shots a contest. In three games, Emmanuel has won 35 draw controls and grabbed 59 ground balls. Offensively, Kristen Tuleja has a team-high 10 goals, while Sarah Higgins has seven goals and four assists four 11 points. Emily Baker leads the team in points with 12 (6 goals + 6 assists). In net, Lauren White has made 21 saves and amassed a .309 save percentage.

Last Year Against the Monks: SJC scored a 20-3 victory against AMC in Maine last spring. Jenny Luna  scored twice for the Falcons in defeat, while Maria Case had a team-high two caused turnovers.

Scouting the Monks: Saint Joseph's (Maine) enters the week riding a six-game winning streak. During the run, five of the team's wins have come at home. Before facing the Falcons, SJC squares off with in-state rival Bowdoin on Wednesday night. The Monks have won 95 draw controls this season, while their opponents have registered just 48. In net, Michelle Cunha is 6-1 with a 5.38 goals-against average, 38 saves and a .500 save percentage. Offensively, Elyse Caiazzo leads the team in goals (29), points (34) and ground balls (33). Kat Godbois has added 16 markers and a team-leading 17 assists this season to go along with 32 ground balls and 17 draw controls.

- Sarr scored five goals and added an assist last week in a pair of losses for Albertus Magnus. Sarr also won four draw controls and was 1-of-4 on free-position attempts. She opened the week with a marker in a setback at home to Daniel Webster. Sarr ended the week with a career-high five points thanks to a four-goal, one-assist effort in a loss to Mitchell.
- In three games, Jassil is tied for the team lead with Sarr with six goals. She also leads the team with seven ground balls.
- Amanda Montano leads the squad with eight draw controls, while freshman Taylor Bisaillon has added seven caused turnovers, six ground balls and four draw controls in two games this spring.
