Women's Lacrosse Picked 10th in GNAC Preseason Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team was picked to finish 10th in the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll. The poll, which was released on Thursday afternoon, is voted on by the league's 10 head coaches.

The Falcons, who are coming off a 1-12 campaign a year ago, earned 12 points to finish seven points behind ninth-place Saint Joseph's (Conn.). Lasell received five of a possible 10 first-place votes to take the top spot with 89 points. Johnson & Wales finished second in the poll, receiving 88 points overall and one first-place nod.

Saint Joseph's of Maine came in at No. 3 in the poll with three first-place tallies and 86 points. Fenway rivals Emmanuel and Simmons rounded out the top-five in the voting, as the Saints received 75 points and the Sharks garnered 62 points. Making up the remainder of the poll was Rivier with 41 points, Norwich with 40 points, Mount Ida with 38 points, the Blue Jays with 19 and the Falcons.

The Falcons open the 2017 campaign on March 21st against Newbury.
