Winthrop, Mass. - Freshman middie Katherin Martinez (Norwalk, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

The rookie tallied a team-best 14 points (10 goals, 4 assists) plus 10 ground balls and eight draw controls in a 2-2 week for the Falcons. Martinez opened her collegiate campaign posting a three-point performance (1G, 2A) in a loss to Mount Ida before recording a season-best six goals and two assists for eight points in the Falcons' 18-2 win over Bay Path. She concluded the week with a hat trick and a season-high five ground balls in the win over Newbury. Martinez also collected three caused turnovers and was 4-of-7 in free position shots.

Albertus Magnus returns to Celentano Field on Tuesday, March 27 with a home non-conference game against Dean.
