Women's Lacrosse Stumbles in Non-League Tilt to Lycoming, 16-6

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A strong second-half run propelled Lycoming College past the Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team, 16-6, in nonconference action Wednesday afternoon at Celentano Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lycoming opened today's afternoon game with seven unanswered goals to take a 7-0 advantage 14:43 into the bout. Hailey Kimble began the game with the first three goals, while Kayla Dijoseph scored twice, and Erika Boyer and Cecilia Massey netted one each.

Kaitlyn Ellsworth (Tolland, Conn.) tallied the first goal for the Falcons at the 2:45 mark of the first half. Another score by the Warriors preceded halftime, which gave Lycoming an 8-1 advantage at the break.

The Falcons began to cut into the lead in the second half, netting three of the next five goals to bring the margin to six, 10-4, with 15:32 left. Madison Neilander (Wallingford, Conn.) tallied two goals over the run, with Kaitlin D'Agostino (Hamden, Conn.) logging the third.

Lycoming took a commanding 16-4 advantage over the next 12-plus minutes with a six-goal run to ice the game. Both Ellsworth and D'Agostino got on the board before the final whistle, resulting in a 16-6 victory for the Warriors.

Both goaltenders finished the game with double-digit saves, with Albertus' Kelly Musante (Wallingford, Conn.) tallying a season-high 10 stops in her second start. Lycoming's Gabriella Haug made 13 saves to pick up the win.
