Women's Lacrosse Topped at Home Against Elms

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team suffered a 13-2 home loss to the Blazers of Elms College on Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Celentano Field.

Katherine Raposo (Warwick, R.I.) netted both goals for the Falcons, with assists from Keegan Riccio (West Haven, Conn.) and Amanda McGeehan (Milford, Conn.). In net, Chloe Oliver (Milford, Conn.) was fantastic with 23 saves, one shy of her season-high.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blazers controlled the action in the first quarter, netting the opening five goals of the game. Elms built a 5-0 lead with 6:00 left in the first frame. However, Albertus ended the run with its first goal of the contest, as Riccio fed a driving Raposo for the score at the 4:06 mark. Raposo's goal was the last of the quarter, with the Blazers owning a 5-1 advantage heading into the second.

Elms scored the only two goals of a defensive second quarter to take a 7-1 lead into the halftime break. Oliver made 12 of her 23 saves in the first half.

In the third quarter, the two defenses stepped up again as the Falcons and Blazers combined for just one goal in the stanza. Raposo recorded the period's lone tally, finding the back of the net with 45 seconds on the clock to close out the third.

Unfortunately for the Falcons, the Blazers ended the game on a 6-0 run to seal a 13-2 GNAC win on the road.
