Women's Lacrosse Concludes 2022 Campaign at Lasell

NEWTON, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team ended the 2022 season with a 16-6 road loss to Lasell University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Thursday afternoon in Newton, Mass.

Keegan Riccio (West Haven, Conn.) led the way for the Falcons with two goals, while Alexandra Barrett (Northford, Conn.) and Emmalee Ianniello (Hamden, Conn.) each tallied a goal and an assist. On the defensive side of the field, Chloe Oliver (Milford, Conn.) made 14 saves to close out her impressive freshman season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first quarter was a defensive battle, as the two teams combined for two goals. Albertus took the first lead of the game, as Barrett netted a free-position goal while a player down at the 6:41 mark of the first. The Lasers tied the game at 1-1 with 25 seconds left in the first.

Lasell rolled that momentum over into the second quarter, scoring the first five goals of the frame to take a 6-1 advantage. The Falcons answered with back-to-back goals over a 19-second span. Ianniello scored first at the 1:42 mark, while Riccio found the back of the net with 1:23 left. For the second consecutive quarter, the Lasers scored in the final 30 seconds to take a 7-3 lead into the halftime break.

Unfortunately for AMC, the Lasers controlled the third quarter, scoring all five goals in the frame to build a 12-3 advantage heading into the fourth.

The Falcons competed in the fourth quarter, scoring three of the seven goals in the frame. Riccio, McGeehan, and Laila Webb (Montclair, N.J.) all scored in the fourth on free-position attempts. However, Albertus' trio of goals proved insufficient, as the Lasers held on to secure a 16-6 conference win.
