Women's Lacrosse Drops GNAC Contest to Saint Joseph's (ME)

STANDISH, Maine - The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team fell on the road to the Monks of Saint Joseph's College of Maine, 19-1, on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.

The Falcons' lone goal of the game came from Amanda McGeehan (Milford, Conn.) at the 13:54 mark in the third quarter.

  • The Monks controlled the opening quarter as the hosts held an 8-0 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of the first half. 
  • Saint Joseph's continued to shoot in the second quarter, outscoring the Falcons by a 4-0 margin to take a commanding 12-0 lead at the half.
  • McGeehan notched the Falcons' lone goal at the 13:54 mark of the third period when she successfully scored on a free position shot.
  • However, the Falcons were unable to stop the Monks from closing out the third quarter with five unanswered goals, extending their lead to 16, 17-1.
  • Albertus was held scoreless in the fourth and final quarter, while the Monks scored an additional two goals to bring the final score to 19-1.

  • Todays game marked the eighth all-time meeting between the Falcons and Monks
  • McGeehan scored a goal in her fourth game of the season. 
  • Kelly Musante (Wallingford, Conn.) led the team with five ground balls and 11 saves. 
  • Along with McGeehan, Kaitlin D'Agostino (Hamden, Conn.) tallied a team-high two caused turnovers. 
  • D'Agostino won a team-high two draw controls, while Keegan Riccio (West Haven, Conn.) tallied one won draw control. 

UP NEXT
The women's lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday, April 5th, with a GNAC road tilt against the Blazers of Elms College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
