Boston, Mass. – The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team opened its 2016 fall slate with a ?-0 setback on the road against Wentworth on Thursday evening in non-conference action under the lights at Sweeney Field.

After playing to a scoreless draw last autumn in the Elm City, the Leopards (1-0) blanked the Falcons (0-1) in the season opener for both squads.

Wentworth outshot Albertus Magnus, 22-6, and took four corners compared to just one for the Falcons.

In her second collegiate start, AMC sophomore goalkeeper Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) made a career-high eight saves in a losing effort for the guests. On the opposite end, sophomore netminder Micaela Robinson turned aside two shots to earn the victory.

Wentworth opened the scoring just over 10 minutes into the contest as junior forward Ali Leach netted the eventual game winner. Leach collected a pass from classmate Emily Richard near the penalty areaand beat Fenn with a shot.

In the 29th minute, the hosts added to their lead with Richard once again picking up an assist this time on first-year Sidney Brogan's first collegiate marker. Brogan scored on a low shot off a corner kick from Richard to give the Leopards a 2-0 edge.

Wentworth closed the scoring in the 63rd minute courtesy of a tally from senior midfielder Amanda Weinberger. Weinberger raced down a through ball along the right side of the field and fired a shot that found the lower right portion of the net.

Senior midfielder Bridget Judd (Branford, Conn.) and junior striker Alexya Alves (Naugatuck, Conn.) had the Albertus Magnus shots on goal.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, September 3 with a road non-conference clash versus Nichols that is slated to get underway at 11:00 am. In last year's meeting, the Falcons topped the Bison, 3-1, in New Haven.
