East Boston, Mass. - Behind a three-point performance from senior Angelina Piccirillo (Naugatuck, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team cruised past Suffolk University, 4-0, in its GNAC opener Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium.

FINAL SCORE: Albertus Magnus 4 | Suffolk 0
RECORDS: Albertus Magnus (2-1-0, 1-0-0 GNAC) | Suffolk (1-1-0, 0-1-0 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons opened the scoring in the 28th minute of action courtesy of a strike from freshman Sophia Austin (East Hartford, Conn.). Senior Angelina Piccirillo (Naugatuck, Conn.) sent a lead assist through the right side, 20-yard out setting up a one-on-one opportunity for Austin to give the Falcons the early 1-0 lead.

Freshman Tiana Cass (Torrington, Conn.) gave the visitors the two-goal edge, 2-0, with her first marker of the season. Piccirillo raced up the midfield and found Cass on the right-side line where she tripped up a Rams' defender to find the back of the net with 3:27 remaining until halftime.

Albertus Magnus stretched its lead to three, 3-0, early in the second half as junior Kerrigan Loughman (Trumbull, Conn.) recorded her second goal of the season after a fundamental give-and-go set-up from Piccirillo, following a corner kick.

The visitors took a four-goal edge in the 73rd minute thanks to senior Amanda Montano's (North Haven, Conn.) first goal of the year. Senior Alexya Alves (Naugatuck, Conn.) led Austin on the left side who crossed to Montano who put the ball past Rams' goalkeeper Kirsten Weiker.
