New Haven, Conn. – Freshman Tiana Cass (Torrington, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer netted a season-high two goals as the Falcons defeated GNAC foe Mount Ida College, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Celentano Field.

FINAL SCORE: Albertus Magnus 2 | Mount Ida 1
RECORDS: Albertus Magnus (3-2, 2-1) | Mount Ida (4-2, 1-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons opened the scoring in the 15th minute of action courtesy of a strike from Cass from Victoria Lavery (West Haven, Conn.). The tally from Cass was her second of the season, while Lavery earned her first point of the year.

Five minutes later, Cass found the back of the net for the second time of the afternoon after taking advantage of a one-on-one opportunity against the Mustangs' keeper. Albertus Magnus would close out the first 45 minute of play with a 2-0 lead, after outshooting the visitors, 6-4.

Down by two, Mount Ida fought its way back into the game as Morgan Rzonca scored an unassisted goal at the 50th minute mark to cut the hosts' lead in half, 2-1. However, the Mustangs were unable to find the back of the net to tie the game up at two, despite registering a 9-5 edge in shots in the second half.

Junior Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) had a stellar game between the pipes for the hosts, turning aside five shots to post her third win of the season. Anna Maria Seiler did her part to keep the guests in the game, making four saves in the lost.
