Northfield, Vt. - Behind a two-goal performance from senior Amanda Montano (North Haven, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team improved to 4-6-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play as the Falcons defeated Norwich University, 2-0, on Saturday evening at Sabine Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Albertus Magnus jumped on the board first as Montano took the crossing pass from Sophia Austin (East Hartford, Conn.) to give the visitors the early advantage 18 minutes in.

Five minutes later, Montano extended the Falcons' lead to 2-0 as the senior netted her second goal of the game on a through ball from Alexya Alves (Naugatuck, Conn.). Albertus Magnus would close out the first half outshooting the Cadets, 10-7, as well as hold a two-goal lead, 2-0, heading into halftime.
The Falcons' backline, along with junior keeper Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.), kept the Cadets' offense off the board for the remainder of the way to secure the road win.
Fenn was credited with her fifth win of the season as well as tallied two saves in net, while Katie Bishop-Manning earned the loss despite making seven saves.
INSIDE THE STATS
- Albertus Magnus outshot Norwich, 23-9, including a 9-2 edge in shots on goal.
- Freshman Tiana Cass (Torrington, Conn.) paced the Falcons' offense with five shots, while a trio of players registered four shots.
- Leandra Flores-Nieves tallied three of the Cadets' nine shots.
- The Falcons posted a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
- Montano's two goal performance pushes her point total to 11 on the season, five goals and an assist.
