BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats commanded the initial 36 minutes of tonight's showdown, scoring the first two goals of the game. Olivia Cairrao netted both goals, one in the 19th minute and one in the 28th minute.

Haley Andrews (Prospect, Conn.) put the Falcons on the board at the 36:42 mark with her fourth score of 2019. After being fouled in the box by the opposing keeper, Colleen Lynch, Andrews buried a penalty kick into the bottom left corner. Lynch was red-carded on the play and ejected, meaning JWU had to play the rest of the bout a woman down.

Leading 2-1 at the start of the second half, Johnson & Wales built its advantage to 4-1 with goals in the 53rd and 56th minutes. Cairrao tallied her hat trick on the Wildcats' fourth goal.

The Falcons began to rally in the 62nd minute with a Katherine Raposo (Warwick, R.I.) score cutting the deficit to two, 4-2. Streaking down the field, Sophia Austin (East Hartford, Conn.) found Raposo on the right side, where she beat a defender and the goalie to score.

Albertus' third goal of the game came with some confusion in front of the net. Andrews sent a crossing pass past the defense that Austin tipped to Mercedes Faust (Warwick, R.I.) for the score, slashing the Wildcats' advantage to one, 4-3.

Unfortunately for the Falcons, that would be their final goal of the evening, while Johnson & Wales added two more to secure a 6-3 victory. Cairrao netted the vistor's last two goals, giving her five on the day.
