HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons came out hot, bombarding Raider's goaltender Julia Cafferty with a slew of shots in the first ten minutes of play. Erina Ismaili (Middlebury, Conn.), Andrews, and Victoria Jainchill (Simsbury, Conn.) all fired off shots, with Jainchill sending three of the five shots.
  • AMC continued to pepper Cafferty with shots, lasering an additional five shots over the next ten minutes to take a 10-3 lead in shots 20 minutes into the match.
  • In the 22nd minute, the Falcon's offense went to work, as Riccio fired off a shot that Cafferty blocked before Haley Montesanto (East Haven, Conn.) roped a shot on goal that Cafferty deflected. Ejalam Bravo (New Britain, Conn.) fired the deflection right back but could not net the score. Riccio finally fired one past Cafferty after receiving a pass from Andrews at the 23-minute mark to give the Falcons the 1-0 advantage.
  • The Falcons continued to pelt shots at Cafferty before Andrews took a pass from Ianniello and unleashed a thunderous kick that soared into the net, doubling the Falcons' lead, 2-0.
  • Less than two minutes later, the Raiders were called for a foul, sending Andrews to the penalty kick line. The fifth-year senior didn't disappoint, rifling the shot past Cafferty for the third score of the match and sending the teams into the halftime break with the Falcons holding the 3-0 lead.
  • Out of the break, Andrews wasted no time, securing the hat trick with a missile into the corner of the net off a corner kick from Riccio to give AMC the 4-0 advantage 3:20 into the second half.
  • The Falcons pressed their advantage for the remainder of the match, out-shooting the Raiders by a 19-2 margin after Andrews' goal and denying the hosts the opportunity for the comeback, eventually walking away with a 4-0 conference triumph.
