Women's Swimming Finishes In Seventh In GNAC Championships; Men's Team Places Sixth

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College women's swimming team finished in seventh place and men's team finished in sixth place at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Swimming and Diving Championships as the three-day event concluded Sunday at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

The women's team finished with 173.5 points, edging out Colby-Sawyer, who finished in eighth with 172. The men's team finished with seven points.

Norwich won the women's title with a score of 894.5. Simmons was second with 781 points and St. Joseph's College (Me.) rounded out the top three with 553 points.

Sophie Olander earned 16 points on Sunday as she finished in 12th place in the women's 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:02.74 for five points. Olander earned the team 11 points in the 1650-yard freestyle, finishing in eighth place with a time of 21:43.48. Chloe Oliver earned three points in the women's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:16.52.

On the men's side, Malachi Blatchley scored the lone point on Sunday, finishing eighth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.84.

Norwich also took home the men's title with a score of 512. Regis was second with 180 points and Colby-Sawyer third with 40 points.

Both Oliver and Blatchley were named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
