Women's Tennis Falls to Emerson 9-0

The Albertus Magnus women's tennis team fell to Emerson College 9-0 on Sunday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action in New Haven.

Gina D'Agostino led the way for the Falcons as she battled in No. 6 singles but fell to Minh Pham of Emerson, 6-2, 6-1.

Emerson swept No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 singles, despite a valiant effort from the Falcons, winning all sets by 6-0 scores. Sandybell Anorga dropped the decision in the No. 1 spot to Lacey Russell, while Na'Tasha Mesidor also dropped her No. 2 singles' match to Savannah Mosser. Mosser and Russell defeated Mesidor and Anorga in No. 1 doubles 8-0.

Chantal Simmons fell in No. 4 singles to Jana Winfield 6-0, 6-0, while Tykima Thompson fell to Alanna Grady in No. 3 singles but fought in the second set after losing the first set 6-0. She dropped the second set 6-2.

Rebecca Weinberger and Hayley Manson dropped an 8-0 decision in No. 2 doubles to Emerson's Natalie Nicholas and Alicia Pellegrin, while their Lions' teammates, Alanna Grady and Gina Varamo took No. 3 doubles over Sagona Sacko and Kathryn Mitchell 8-0.

The Falcons will travel to Mount Ida on Wednesday, Oct. 5 to take on the Mustangs in a 3:00 p.m. match.
