Women's Tennis Falls to Emerson 9-0

The Albertus Magnus women's tennis team fell to Emerson College 9-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

The loss moves the Falcons to 1-1 on the year after their season-opening victory on Friday against Mitchell.

In Saturday's loss to the highly competitive Lions, Emerson swept all matches to take the 9-0 victory.

Lacey Russell and Savannah Mosser defeated Albertus' Sogona Sacko and Na'Tasha Mesidor 8-0 in No. 1 doubles, while Alicia Pellegrin and Natalie Nicholas also took an 8-0 win over the Falcons' Gina D'Agostino and Malika Grant in the second position.

In the final doubles' match, the Falcons' Meteka Johnson and Renita Moore fell to Emerson's Minh Pham and Emi Soda.

All singles' matches were taken by Emerson by pairs of 6-0 scores. In No. 1 singles, Sandybell Anorga fell to Emerson's Russell as Chantal Simmons also dropped her singles' match to Emerson's Jana Winfield. The Lions' Alanna Grady defeated Falcons' newcomer Sharinna Luna 6-0, 6-0 as well.
