New Haven, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College women's tennis team fell to visiting Suffolk, 9-0, on Monday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Celentano Courts. With the setback, the Falcons move to 6-5 overall and 1-4 in league play, while the Rams improved to 8-4 on the year and 4-1 in conference matches.

The visitors got off to a quick start, sweeping doubles action and surrendering just one game to build an early 3-0 lead. The Falcon duo of freshman Izzy Sabino (Cheshire, Conn.) and sophomore Kelsea Wildman (Hamden, Conn.) saw their five-match winning streak come to an end with an 8-1 defeat versus the tandem of senior Rebecca Eshoo and classmate Abby Trigilio at No. 2.

In singles play, Suffolk took four of the six matches in straight sets to escape with the conference triumph. At No. 3, Sabino dropped a three-set heartbreaker, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8, to Eshoo. The other AMC player to win a set was Wildman, who took the opener 6-4 against Elena Cisneros before dropping the final two sets.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, October 17, with a road conference clash against Anna Maria. The tilt with the AmCats is the final regular-season GNAC game for the Falcons.
