The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team earned their first win of the season with a convincing 3-1 win over host Mitchell College.

The Falcons received strong efforts from sophomores Amy Seliga (East Haven, Conn.) and Caitlin Prete (Milford, Conn.) who finished with 12 and eight kills, respectively.  Junior Alyssa Puccilli (Milford, Conn.) had a team high 24 digs while senior Leanna Velez (Waterbury, Conn.) added 26 assists on the night.

Albertus took the first two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-18 before Mitchell held on for a 25-23 win in the third set. The Falcons surged ahead for good in the fourth set following six straight service points from junior Ramona Onofrio (East Haven, Conn.) winning by the score of 25-19.  Onofrio finished with a match high five service aces while adding 11 digs.

The Falcons improve 1-3, 0-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) on the season while Mitchell drops to 0-1 overall.  Albertus returns to action against visiting Bay Path College on Thursday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center.
