New Haven, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matches on Saturday afternoon in a tri-match versus Saint Joseph's (Me.) and Anna Maria at the Nest inside the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center. The Falcons fell to the Monks, 3-0, in the opener and lost 3-1 to the AmCats in the night cap. In the second match of the day, Saint Joseph's topped Anna Maria, 3-1.

With the losses, the Falcons move to 2-10 on the year and 0-3 in conference play, while Monks improved to 17-1 overall and 5-0 in league action and the AmCats moved to 9-9 overall and 2-1 in GNAC contests.

MATCH ONE: Saint Joseph's bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 25-9, 25-5, 25-5 triumph.

The Falcons were led by sophomore middle hitter Ana Gomez (New Haven, Conn.) and freshman middle hitter Megan Gritz (Milford, Conn.) with four kills apiece, while junior outside hitter Amber Cohens (Hamden, Conn.) contributed three kills of her own. Senior setter Ramona Onofrio (East Haven, Conn.) registered 10 assists and a team-high two service aces. Defensively, Gomez had 11 digs for the Falcons and Gritz recorded eight.

Junior outside hitter Victoria Huntley paced the attack for the Monks, registering a match-best 17 kills, while senior middle blocker Felicia Wachowiak added 10 kills and an impressive .769 attack percentage. Junior setter Mariah Hebert did a good job distributing the ball, recording 33 assists. On the defensive end, freshman libero Jennelle Thompson registered a match-leading 16 digs and Huntley added eight.

MATCH THREE: After dropping the second match of the day, Anna Maria responded with a 25-8, 20-25, 25-15, 25-7 win against Albertus Magnus in the finale.

Offensively, Cohens led the Falcon attack with eight kills, while both Gritz and Gomez added six kills each. Onofrio set the table well for Albertus Magnus, picking up 17 assists in the match. At the service line, sophomore Marielis Muriel (New Haven, Conn.) registered a team-high two aces. On the defensive end, Onofrio tied for the match-high with 17 digs to record a double-double and Gomez added a season-best 15 digs as well. Gomez and Gritz each teamed for a block assist and as a team the Falcons had 54 digs.

In the win, the AmCats did a lot of damage from the service line. As a team, Anna Maria had 16 aces, highlighted by seven from senior setter Samantha Parker. Sophomore outside hitter Rebecca Foti had a solid game, registering four aces, a match-leading 12 kills and four digs. Classmate Telliah Bursie was a threat at the net for the guests, recording 10 kills and a .500 attack percentage. Parker did a good job distributing the ball and picking her spots en route to 38 assists. On the defensive end, senior libero Brittany Jackson had 17 digs, while Parker added 12 and freshman Amari King had 10 of her own.
