A NEW WEEK
The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team is back on the road this week with two out of conference games against Mitchell and Staten Island. The Falcons return home to resume GNAC play with a tri-match against Rivier and St. Joseph's of Maine on Saturday as part of Homecoming.

Game 19 Highlights:

• Senior Delaney Ruiz (Meriden, Conn.) paced the Falcons' offence with a season-high 17 kills and five digs.
• With a double-double performance from senior Nicole Beard (Shelton, Conn.) and freshman Genesis Cora Luquis (Meriden, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team dropped a five-set heartbreaker to New Jersey City, 3-2

• Freshman Genesis Cora Luquis (Meriden, Conn.) recorded her ninth double-double of the season, 14 kills and 24 digs, to go along with three service aces.
• Sophomore Jesselle Guzman (Santa Teresa, N.M.) recorded 24 digs.
• Senior Nicole Beard (Shelton, Conn.) registered a double-double for the Falcons as the setter assisted 42 kills, 10 digs and two service aces.

• Freshman Kimberly Keller (Bridgeport, Conn.) led the Falcons' offense with four kills and a block assist.

GNAC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBAL PRESEASON POLL

The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team was picked to finish 13th in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll.

A QUICK LOOK BACK AT LAST YEAR

• The women's volleyball team ended the 2016 fall season with a 7-20 overall record and landed in 12th-place in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a 0-11 mark in league action.
• Head Coach Vanessa Rosario guided the Falcons to non-conference wins against York, Elms, Purchase State, Medgar Evers and CCNY.
• Albertus Magnus swept the season series with York and Medgar Evers, defeating both the Cardinals and Cougars twice during the autumn.
• The team also won back-to-back matches on two separate occasions in 2016.
• Albertus Magnus opened the year with two straight wins at the Blazer Invitational hosted by Elms.

UP NEXT
The Falcons return to action next week against St. Joseph's (Conn.), Norwich and Mount Ida.
