Women’s Volleyball Delaney Ruiz Named to GNAC-All Sportsmanship Team

Winthrop, Mass. – Sophomore Delaney Ruiz (Meriden, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Sportsmanship Team as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Ruiz, who is an outside hitter, appeared in 26 matches for the Falcons and finished third on team averaging 1.90 kills as well as 0.49 service aces per set. She recorded 10 or more kills on four different occasions, including a season-high 17 kills against New Jersey City, and posted a pair of double-doubles against Me.-Presque Isle and Becker. Ruiz wrapped up her sophomore campaign totaling 113 digs (1.38 d/set), eight assists and eight blocks.

The Albertus Magnus College women's volleyball team finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 16-14 and ended the year ninth in the GNAC with a 4-8 mark. The 16 wins were a new program record for the Falcons as the team scored GNAC victories against Anna Maria, Saint Joseph's (Conn.), Norwich and Emmanuel (Mass.).

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 13 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 20 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
