CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus Falcons women's volleyball team dropped its opening Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match to Elms, 3-0 on Thursday evening on the road.

HIGHLIGHTS
The Falcons rallied from an early 4-1 deficit in set one before going on an 8-2 run headed by three kills from Majo Pelaez (Armenia, Colombia) to give Albertus the 9-6 lead. With the match tied at 11-11, Elms went on a 14-3 run to close the set, including the final four points to take a 1-0 match lead. During the set-closing run, Sahmiyah Cabrera and Alysha Izquierdo each had three kills for the Blazers.
Albertus found themselves down again to start the second set, going down 15-9. But, a 13-2 run gave the Falcons a 22-17 lead as the Blazers committed seven attack errors to allow Albertus to come back. The Falcons looked poise to tie the match, taking a 24-21 lead on a kill from Colleen Edwards (Clinton, Conn.), but the Blazers staved off set point three times, scoring the final five and taking a 2-0 match lead. All five final points came on kills, two from Quiana Gibbs.
In the third and final set, the Blazers never trailed, taking an 11-4 lead out of the gate. Albertus got within four on two different occasions, but an 8-3 run gave the Blazers breathing room, eventually taking the match.
