Dr. Mark Barreuther Named New Faculty Athletic Representative

Albertus Magnus College Director of Athletics Jim Abromaitis, in conjunction with Vice President for Academic Affairs Sean O'Connell, has announced that Dr. Mark Barreuther has been named the new Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) at Albertus Magnus College.

Barreuther brings to the role a deep commitment to academic excellence at Albertus Magnus.  He holds a Ph.D. in biology and currently serves as the Chair of the Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics Department at Albertus, while teaching several courses in that department.  Barreuther will be starting his 16th year at the college in the fall.

“I am pleased to accept the role as FAR and I look forward to being an additional liaison between the Athletics Department and the faculty as well as the administration,” said Barreuther about his new appointment.

“We are pleased to announce that Dr. Mark Barreuther has agreed to accept the position of Faculty Athletic Representative beginning July 1, 2014,” said O’Connell.  “Dr. Barreuther has been a full-time faculty member at Albertus Magnus College for fifteen years.  An outstanding teacher and mentor as well as an enthusiastic fan of our Albertus teams, Dr. Barreuther looks forward to this opportunity to participate in insuring the academic success of the College's student athletes.”

Albertus Magnus is a Division III member of the NCAA with 12 varsity sports competing within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). 

"We are delighted to have Dr. Barreuther join the Athletic Department as our new ‘FAR’,” said Abromaitis.  “Dr. Barreuther brings a wealth of knowledge and academic experience to the position along with a genuine interest in the well-being of our student athletes.”
