HOW IT HAPPENED

Elms hung tough with Albertus Magnus early on in the game, as the usual trio of sophomore RJ Mayfield (Springfield, MA), junior Aaron Sanchez, and graduate student Tahquell Cadle (Bridgeport, CT) carried the early offensive load for the Blazers. The Falcons responded by going on a little scoring run, taking the lead to 11 points. Elms responded with a flurry of scores by Cadle, Sanchez, and Mayfield, as the three Blazers kept Elms in the game early on. With four minutes left in the opening half, a pair of free throws by junior Ian Green (Fort Worth, TX) cut the Elms deficit back to 11 points. Albertus Magnus took advantage of the Blazers' struggles on offense late in the half, and went into halftime with the lead 39-25.

Albertus extended their lead out to 16 points early on in the half, prompting the Blazers to regroup. With 13 minutes left in the matchup, the Blazers turned it around, going on a massive run and turning the game around. Baskets by Sanchez and senior Teron Griffin (Harlem, NY) would cut the Albertus lead to six points. Elms continued to play tough and hung around with Albertus, taking punch after punch by the Falcons, but standing strong. The Blazers cut the deficit to 10 points repeatedly, but couldn't get past the Falcons. Although it was an encouraging game for the Blazers, they fell to Albertus 58-70.
