WBB: Lasers Play Albertus Magnus Close

New Haven, CT - The Lasell Lasers Women's Basketball team fell to the Albertus Magnus Falcons on Saturday by a score of 72-61. The Lasers are now 6-5 on the season, and 1-1 in GNAC play. The Falcons move to 11-3 and 3-0.

The Falcons opened up the game on a quick 6-0 run in the first minute, but the Lasers settled down and eventually took an 11-10 lead midway through the quarter. But the lead was short lived, as the Falcons led 19-15 at the end of the quarter. The second quarter was a similar story, as the Lasers kept it close throughout. They tied things up at 25 with four minutes remaining in the half, but the Falcons used a 12-4 run to end the half to take an eight point lead at the half at 37-29. The second half saw the Falcons slowly build theier lead to as many as 15, but the Lasers got it down to six with three minutes remaining. But the Lasers would run out of time, and eventually fall 72-61.

It was a balanced attack from the Lasers, with three double-digit scorers. They were led by Kiara Cerruti's 14 points. Shirle Major (12) and Blaize Mack (11) were the other two double-digit scorers. Laura Johnson was her usual self on the boards, grabbing 16 for the second consecutive game. She is averaging 12.7, placing her in the top 20 of the country. She has recorded double-digit rebounds in all but one game this season. Mack also had a big day on the glass with 13 rebounds, giving her a double-double.
