Baseball Walks Off Against Albertus Magnus

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Curry College walked off in the 10th inning to defeat Albertus Magnus 8-7 in a non-conference collegiate baseball game Monday night at Lake Myrtle Park Sports Complex Main Field.

With the win, the Colonels improve to an impressive 4-1 throughout their Florida Trip.

Aaron Siegal started the Colonel's offense off on the right foot, smashing a two-run home run over the right field wall to put Curry on top 2-0 after one inning of play.

The Colonels tacked on another pair of runs in the bottom of the second, doing it all with two outs. The first run of the inning was scored on an RBI single to right field by Tommy Marshall while the second was an Erik Leonard walk with the bases loaded, giving the Colonels a 4-0 after two.

The Falcons scored in three consecutive innings to take a 7-4 lead, but the Colonels fought back, loading the bases in the bottom of the sixth for Tino Gagliardi who reached first on a fielder's choice and drove in a run, cutting the score to 7-5.

Trailing by two runs in the bottom of the ninth, Leonard got things started with a leadoff walk. An error put runners at second and third, setting up George Calderon who drove in a run on a ground out to shortstop. With two outs and a runner on third, Nick Krise struck out on a wild pitch, allowing the inning to continue and the run to score from third, sending the game to extra innings.

With two outs in the bottom of the 10th, Tino Gagliardi forced a walk, setting up pinch-hitter Alex Barker-Hook who launched a double to the gap in right-center field to score the winning run for the Colonels.

Curry College has a quick turnaround with a pair of games tomorrow, starting with Fontbonne at 10 a.m. and Penn. State Abington at 1:15 p.m.
