HOW IT HAPPENED

The first half would see the two opposing sides both create offensive life early, with Albertus taking the first shot during the second minute of play, and that shot would be saved by graduate student goalkeeper Hailey Magierowski (Brimfield, Mass.). Elms would follow suit shortly after, when senior forward Kelly Malheiro (Centereach, N.Y.) took a shot but would be saved by the Falcons goalkeeper. AMC would then take the next three shots and two of those shots would be saved by Magierowski. The Blazers would be the first to themselves on the board after senior midfielder Lindsey Jeffrey (Lincoln, R.I.) would find an open sophomore forward/midfielder Emily Basua (Oxnard, Cali.) for the first goal of the game. Junior forward Jamie McDonough (Dedham, Mass.) would take the third shot for Elms but that shot would be saved by the Albertus goalkeeper. The two sides would each take shots, one being saved by Magierowski and the other being taken by Basua. AMC would continue offensive pressure, taking two shots, one being blocked by the Blazers defense and the other finding the back of the net to tie the game. The conference foes would battle until the final whistle of the half, with a tied score of 1-1.

The Falcons would continue their offensive pressure taking six-straight shots, including a goal in the 53rd minute of play to obtain the lead. During those six shots, the Elms defense would block two of the shots. The Blazers would then take two shots from McDonough and first-year Jenna McGuire (Shelton, Conn.), one being saved and the other being blocked by the Albertus defense. The Falcons would then regain possession and score once again to extend their lead to 3-1. AMC would take six more shots, with Magierowski making three saves and the Elms defense blocking one shot. The two sides would continue trading possession, but the Blazers would take the ball into the Falcons end of the field and graduate student forward Kellie Smith (Marshfield, Mass.) would take the final shot for Elms, but that shot would go to the right side of the goal. Albertus would have offensive possession in the final minutes and would take a shot but Magierowski would make the save to keep AMC from scoring a fourth goal. But as the final whistle blew, the Falcons would defeat the Blazer 3-1 at home snapping a three game win streak.
