  • Despite going down 1-2-3 in the fifth, Albertus rallied for two runs on one hit, including a RBI double to right field from Jason Sullivan (Meriden, Conn.), to cut the lead in half, 6-3.
  • With one out, Riccio got things started with a hit-by-pitch followed by a walk by Jefferson. Sullivan's double allowed Riccio to score for the inning's first run. Ramos kept things moving with a grounder to third, sending Jefferson home before the final out of the inning was collected.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS - Game 2

  • Colby-Sawyer opened the nightcap by scoring a pair of runs on four hits to take the early 2-0 lead, but the Chargers' advantage was short-lived as a single down the left field line from Ron Losacano (Old Lyme, Conn.) evened the game at 2-2 in the top of the second.
  • The Chargers regained the lead in the bottom of the third as the hosts scored its third run of the game on a successful squeeze bunt.
  • The pitchers held the advantage for the next three innings, as neither team was able to generate any offense.
  • The Falcons broke through in the top of the seventh as Losacano led off the frame with a single down the left field line. A sacrifice bunt from Bobby Arent (Ridgefield, Conn.) moved Losacano to second base before Jefferson unloaded on a fastball and launched a tape measure homerun over the right field fence to give AMC the 4-3 advantage.
  • The Chargers evened the score at 4-all in the bottom of the seventh behind a sacrifice pop-up into the outfield that was snared by Sullivan at first base, allowing the runner from third to cross home plate.
  • The Falcons took the lead back in the top of the eighth after scoring two runs on two hits. Kane worked a walk and advanced to second base on a wild pitch before a double from Anthony Broadhurst (Stratford, Conn.) allowed Kane to score. Losacano then drove a one-out single into right field to score Broadhurst and expand the visitor's advantage to 6-4.
  • In the bottom of the ninth, the Chargers sandwiched a strikeout around a pair of singles to put runners on first and second with one out. A balk moved the runners to second and third before a single to left field brought both runners home and tied the game at six.
  • A stolen base and an errant throw put a runner on third before a mishandled flyball scored the seventh run for the Chargers and handed Albertus the 7-6 setback.
