MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -  A late-game rally fell just short for the Albertus Magnus College baseball team as it lost a 10-7 game to La Roche on Thursday evening at The Ripken Experience. 

Adriel Espada went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Anthony Abate scored twice and Jason Sullivan, Tyler Czeremcha and Shawn Smith each scored a run and had an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Albertus found itself down 2-0 after the second inning as the Redhawks manufactured a run in each of the first two innings. In the third, and fourth innings, the Redhawks scored two apiece as Dom Brncic hit a two-run single in the third and Casey Jones, a two-run double in the fourth.
• The Falcons battled back in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three times as a Shawn Smith double drove in Elijah Spataj who led off the inning with a walk. After a walk to Anthony Abate, Tyler Czermcha and Troy Piascik hit back-to-back RBI singles to cut the deficit to 6-3.
• The Redhawks added four runs in the top of the sixth, including a solo homer from Dimitri Gary and a two-run homer by Tanner Schmitt. 
• Aaron McIntyre came into the game in relief with one out in the sixth and slowed down the La Roche offense, pitching 3.1 innings and not allowing a run the rest of the way.
• In the bottom of the sixth, Albertus capitalized after the first three batters were walked to load the bases. King Rivera hit an infield single that scored Abate and a single from Adriel Espada scored Jason Sullivan to make it a 10-6 game.
• The bottom of the ninth once again saw the first three batters reach base with no outs. After a strikeout, Sullivan walked for the second time, driving in Eric Galarza, who led off the inning hit by a pitch. However, the Falcons could not get another run across the rest of the way.
