DANBURY, Conn. — First-year Jack Angelo (East Haven, Conn.) put in seven innings of work in a 13-4 game-one victory for the Albertus Magnus College baseball on the road at Western Connecticut State University on Wednesday and the Falcons continued their momentum in the 8-0 shutout to sweep the doubleheader.

Angelo tallied his second win this season and his first complete-game triumph to go along with a career-high three strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Adriel Espada (Bridgeport, Conn.) led off the game with a walk before back-to-back steals put the junior in scoring position before Shawn Smith's (Shelton, Conn.) an RBI single brought the shortstop home for the first run by the visitors.
• With the bags loaded with Falcons in the first inning, Troy Piascik (East Haven, Conn.) was handed free bases to easily bring Anthony Abate (Naugatuck, Conn.) back to the plate, followed by a sacrifice fly by Bobby Arent (Ridgefield, Conn.) to allow Smith to score.
• With one out on the board, the Wolves notched their first run off an error by Albertus in the bottom of the first frame but Espada scored again off a groundout by Elijah Spataj (Cheshire, Conn.) in the second inning.
• Two runs by the hosts in the third brought the game within one, but a six-inning fourth frame ignited by a two-RBI single by Spataj propelled Albertus to a seven-run advantage.
• WestConn put one more run on the board in the fourth before two consecutive doubles by Spataj and Smith in straight at-bats brought Espada and Abate home in the fifth.
