Field Hockey Stumbles at Home Against League-Leader Johnson & Wales

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College field hockey team fell to the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University, 7-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) home bout on Wednesday afternoon at Celentano Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Wildcats started quickly, scoring three goals in the first period to take a 3-0 lead.
  • Albertus stiffened up on defense in the second quarter, allowing just one goal in the stanza to keep the score at four, 4-0, heading into the halftime break.
  • The Falcons continued their great defensive play in the third quarter, holding the Wildcats scoreless and maintaining the four-goal deficit.
  • JWU added three goals in the fourth quarter to seal the 7-0 victory.
  • Junior Serena Montague (Englishtown, N.J.) was a force in goal for the Falcons, finishing the game with 24 saves, her second straight match with 20+ stops.
