Field Hockey's Defense Shines in 2-0 Setback Against Anna Maria

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College field hockey team held Anna Maria College scoreless for three quarters in tonight's 2-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) setback at home under the lights at Celentano Field.

Serena Montague (Englishtown, N.J.) made eight saves in the cage for the Falcons, tallying her second consecutive start with two or fewer goals allowed.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The AMCATS took control of tonight's contest early, taking a 1-0 advantage at the 2:41 mark when Maria Madison-Marie Romano fired an Eden Forget pass into the cage after a corner.
• Anna Maria added another goal at the 7:10 mark on an Ashley Garcia unassisted tally.
• AMC's defense settled in for the rest of the first half, holding the AMCATS off the scoreboard for the final 22:50.
• The third quarter was highlighted by stout defense, as neither team scored over the 15 minutes.
• Albertus' defensive success continued in the fourth quarter as the Falcons held the AMCATS off the scoreboard again.
• With neither team scoring over the final three quarters, the final whistle sealed a 2-0 win for the AMCATS.
