Field Hockey Sets Season-High in Goals During Loss to Lasell

NEWTON, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College field hockey team scored a season-high three goals during its loss to the Lasers of Lasell University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play, 12-3.

Melina Tarzia (Stamford, Conn.) scored for the first time in her career and additionally obtained a career-high in goals when she also netted her second. Gabriella Dellacroce (Woodbridge, Conn.) scored her first career goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lasers came out with three quick goals in the first quarter, but Tarzia squashed their run when she was able to score her first goal of her career at the 10:54 minute mark, 4-1.

Lasell was able to score eight consecutive goals until Tarzia was able to make her mark once again in the fourth quarter, scoring a second time to make the score 11-2.

The Lasers were able to score another goal, but Dellacroce netted the final tally for the Falcons in the final seconds of the game for a final score of 12-3.

  • The Lasers outshot the Falcons, 28-14. On target, the Lasers took 20 shots on frame while the Falcons had nine.

  • Lasell just barely edged Albertus in penalty corners, 13-10.

  • There were three green cards awarded in the game. For the Falcons, Maddy Gootjes (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) was given a green card. On the Lasers side, Jaquelyn Scopa and Isabella O'Reilly were given green cards.

NOTEWORTHY

  • Tarzia and Dellacroce both scored their first career-goals. 

  • The last multi-goal game by the Falcons was on Oct. 19, 2022.
