NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's basketball team lost a 115-96 game to Saint Joseph's College (Maine) on Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game in The Nest.

Ta'zhon Daniels (New Haven, Conn.) scored 31 points, including 5-for-10 shooting to lead the Falcons.

Ray Ford, Jr. (Jersey City, N.J.) scored 24 points with four assists and four rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Albertus jumped out to an early 5-3 lead after a layup from Avery Hinnant (Naugatuck, Conn.) to start the game and a three from Ford, Jr. The Monks followed with a 17-8 run which included three three-pointers to take a 20-13 lead with 14:25 on the clock.
• The teams traded baskets over the next five minutes as the Falcons were able to cut their deficit down to three points on two different occassions on baskets by Malcolm Duncanson (West Haven, Conn.) and Ford, Jr.
• SJME went on a 13-0 run to take a 45-29 lead at the 6:05 mark of the first half with Braden Camire scoring six of those points during the run.
• Jayquan Kirkland (Stratford, Conn.) hit two threes in a 33 second span and cut the Monks' lead to 51-37 with 4:48 left. However, the Monks hit three more threes fown the stretch to take a 66-44 lead at halftime as they shot 63.6% from the field.
• Daniels and Ford opened up the second half with threes - sandwiched by a three from the Monks - to cut the Falcons' deficit to 69-50 less than a minute in. Daniels would hit another three less than two minutes later. From there, the Monks would increase its lead to as much as 33 points after a three from Silvano Ismail with 8:50 remaining. Albertus would get no closer than 19 points the rest of the way.
• Daniels scored 23 points in the second half for Albertus on 8-for-12 shooting, including 5-for-7 from three.
