Men's Golf Finishes In Third Place At GNAC Championship

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's golf team finished in third place at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship held at the par 70 New Haven Country Club. The Falcons finished with a a 94-over-par 654 in the 36 hole event.

New England College won the title with an 86-over-par 646 followed by Norwich University, who finished a stroke ahead of the Falcons.

The top finisher for the Falcons was Charles Kristofak (West Hartford, Conn.), who finished tied for third with an 18-over-par 158 (80-78). During his second round on Tuesday, Kristofak had birdies on the 3rd, 10th and 17th holes. He was tied for the tournament lead in birdies with four. He was also named to the All-GNAC First Team.

Shamar Wilson (Runaway Bay, Jamaica) also finished in the top ten as he tied for eighth with 22-over-par 162. He joined Kristofak with a birdie on the tenth hole. Kyle Sikorski (Norwich, Conn.) had a 25-over par 165 (83-82) and tied for 14th. He led the field with a 1-over par in par three scoring. For his performance, Wilson was named to the All-GNAC Second Team.

David Aquavia (Oakville, Conn.) finished tied for 22nd with a 32-over-par 172 (86-86). Sam Witt (Calgary, Alberta) had a 37-over-par 177. Witt tied for the lead in par five scoring at 1-under-par for the tournament. Witt was named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

For the tournament, the Falcons led all teams in par three scoring average at 3.70 and par fives at 5.15. They were second in the field with 68 pars and third with eight birdies. Albertus was also honored with the GNAC Institutional Sportsmanship Award.

Michael Keefe of Dean was the medalist for the event, finishing his two rounds with an 11-over par 151 (76-75). He tied with Kristofak with four birdies during the tournament. Keefe also tied for the lead in the tournament in pars with 19.
