NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team earned a 3-0 shutout victory over Hamilton College on Sunday evening at Ralph Walker Skating Rink. The Falcons used Sunday's game to partner with the Wounded Warrior Project, as AMC held a ceremonial puck drop, and the team raised money with a charity auction for the organization.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a back-and-forth start to the game, the Falcons took a 1-0 lead 14:44 into the first period on a power-play goal from Tyler Ignazzitto (Bath, Ontario).
  • With an extra skater, Ignazzitto cashed in on an Alex Gagnon (Montreal, Quebec) pass from the left circle by rifling a shot over the keeper's stick-side shoulder.

  • AMC added to its advantage 14:10 into the second period to pull ahead 2-0.
  • Gagnon sparked the second goal by bringing the puck down the ice and firing a shot that was saved by Hamilton's keeper before a trailing Bailey Kirwin (Barrie, Ontario) sent the rebound into the back of the net.

  • Gagnon capped off his outstanding night by netting a goal of his own 17:39 into the second when Ignazzitto sent a beautiful pass between a defender's legs that Gagnon sent through the keeper's five-hole.

  • With his offense supplying a three-goal cushion, Logan Bateman (Ottawa, Ontario) did his part in goal by making a season-high 37 saves to earn his first shutout of the year.
